Galvanized & Cast-Iron Pipe Replacement for Atlanta Bungalows

Many Craftsman bungalows in Kirkwood, East Lake, Edgewood and Ormewood Park were built in the 1920s and 1930s with galvanized steel supply lines and cast-iron drains. After 90-plus years, galvanized pipe narrows with rust inside, which causes low pressure, discolored water and leaks at the threads. Cast-iron drains crack and scale.

How we approach an older home

  • Walkthrough and written estimate. We trace what is original and what has already been updated, then put the scope and price in writing before work begins.
  • Least-invasive route. Crawlspaces in most east-side bungalows let us run new lines from below with limited wall openings.
  • Respect for original finishes. We plan access around plaster walls, heart-pine floors and original tile.
  • Documented work. Photos before and after, useful for resale and insurance.

Partial or full replacement

If a previous owner already replaced part of the system, we connect to the newer pipe and replace only what is left. A camera inspection of the main sewer is recommended on any house over 70 years old.
